As promised a little while back, the Sonic Youth vaults are being opened and the first release has been confirmed. Smart Bar – Chicago 1985 is set for release on November 14, 2012 on 2xLP & CD via the band’s own Goofin’ Records and as you can probably guess, consists of of a show recorded in 1985 at the Smart Bar in Chicago. The record features an otherwise unreleased song “Kat ‘N’ Hat,” rare photos and liner notes by Gerard Cosloy and Sonic Youth engineer Aaron Mullan
