I guess you could say 45-year-old Lee Howard Koenig never made it as a wise man, couldn’t cut it as a poor man stealing.
Koenig, a Port St. Lucie, Florida man is accused of impersonating Nickelback drummer Daniel Adair in attempt to purchase $25,000 in musical equipment.
On January 19th police where contacted by a member of Daniel Adair’s security team who informed that he “had his identity used to fraudulently order drum parts from a company in Vienna, Austria.”
“Essentially, when he placed the order in Austria, I guess at this level of band … you have a lot of people that work for you,” Detective Paul Griffith told the TCPalm. “One of the people in his group thought it was out of the ordinary when they were getting contacted as to confirming the order.”
On Tuesday, police executed a search warrant at the fake Daniel Adair’s home were he was taken into custody. According to Detective Paul Griffith, fake Daniel Adair said he would like to send real Daniel Adair an apology letter.
Adair was later released from the St. Lucie County Jail on $18,750 bond, a jail official said.
