Daily Riot Fest Roundup

Monday, June 12th, 2017
June 12, 2017 (June 12, 2017) // Riot Fest

Today is National Loving Day. We love you all!

Today marks the 10th anniversary of when Queens of the Stone Age released its 5th album, Era Vulgaris. Let’s get sexy and watch the video for “Make It Wit Chu,” shall we?

Today we also celebrate the tenth anniversary of the release of Paramore‘s second (and most-awesomely named) album, Riot! Celebrate with us by watching the video for “Misery Business” and by reading Noisey’s Track-By-Track feature, as well as this article about the band that SPIN just re-published from its March 2008 issue.

M.I.A. curated this year’s Meltdown Festival in London, and led a panel on “the complexities of global activism and art in a changing world” with WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange (on video feed), as well as Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek and Croatian philosopher Srećko Horvat IRL. Stereogum posted a video from the event, and now Riot Fest has too.

Teenage Bottlerocket has recorded its first two original songs since the tragic passing of drummer Brandon Carlisle and have just announced that they will become the Goin’ Back to WYO 7″. To be released via Fat Wreck Chords on the on the same date as their new collection of cover songs, Stealing the Covers, the 7″ features “Goin’ Back to WYO” and “Walking the Yard.” We’ve heard both of these songs in a top-secret listening chamber and we think that they’re way rad. Pre-order the album here and the 7″ here.

Mastodon just announced a whole slew of tour dates, with Eagles of Death Metal and Russian Circles opening on select dates. All the dates are listed on their sweet-looking website, and here’s a video of them playing Riot Fest in 2014, in case you forgot what that was like.

ICYMI: Be sure to check out this week’s Riot Fest Horoscopes to guide your life.

Jawbreaker dishes out some real talk.

Hayley from Paramore is wondering why we all just can’t get along.

heart is with Orlando this AM. what would it feel like to lose someone to ignorance/hatred? got to be more compassion on this planet ❤️💛💚💙💜

Action Bronson on the fine art of procrastination.

Due tomorrow? Do tomorrow.

In case you’re wondering how to be properly hospitable to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Eli Caterer from The Smoking Popes is asking for help for a friend who recently had a stroke. They’re very close to their goal, so check it out if you’re feeling selfless today.

Dear Facebook friends, this is Eli from the Smoking Popes and I'm asking for help. One of my dearest friends,… https://t.co/39fLvClCDt
