Raise your hand if you thought this would happen 30 years ago. It appears that The English Beat and Paul Collins Beat have buried the hatchet and will be touring America together this fall. The two bands both claimed ownership over the name back in the early 1980s, with the UK band having to amend “English” to their name back for North America and the US adding Paul Collins to the front for Europe. According to the press release, this tour came about because of a Facebook friendship. The English Beat’s Dave Wakeling says “Paul and I originally met back in ’83 and have been in touch occasionally over the years, but recently we’ve been in closer FB contact, which led to this idea becoming a reality….Two beats, hearting as one!”
