A woman attending Ladies Day at Southwell Racecourse near Nottinghamshire, England was stopped by security this past weekend when they noticed something odd about her salami sandwich.
Outside food may be brought into the Southwell Racecourse, but outside booze is not allowed and when the salami sandwich passed through security, they noticed it was heavier than expected. That’s when they found a bottle of vodka inside her sandwich.
Will Bowler, marketing assistant, at Southwell Racecourse said, ‘We had 9,000 people here that day and as usual we allow people to bring their own picnics but no alcohol. We were carrying out the usual checks and then came across this particular lady who had dug out a hole in her baguette and stuffed the vodka inside. It was pretty good of security to spot it really because it was quite an innovative idea – probably the best we have ever seen. It was only when they noticed the weight of it that the alarm bells started to ring.’
‘The lady in question was a little red-faced at the time but you have to give her an A for effort. We invited her to collect it at the end of the day because of the trouble she had gone to but she never showed up. It’s still sat here in the office at the moment.’
Don’t even think about trying this at Riot Fest.
