I’ve been shooting Riot Fest for the past eleven years. Since the festival moved outdoors in 2012, I’ve spent more time “directing” the crew than actually shooting. We have an incredible team of photographers and videographers that cover the full festival, so when I do get chances to take photos, I try to tell the big story.
Using ultra-wide lensing—and my access to the lift, rooftops, and the edge of the stages—I endeavor to frame up the massive, fun-loving crowds during mind-blowing moments. This year, I shared my time up on the lift with the master photographer David Wittig. This is a wide view of the Riot.
