On the most recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan talks about all sorts of things in the two-hour conservation. From Kurt Cobain and Guns N’ Roses to his new solo album Ogilala and his relationship with his father. Corgan also talk about his love for the band Nickelback and compares pop music to porn.
In the interview, Billy Corgan says Chad Kroeger, the Nickelback frontman, is “an incredible songwriter”.
“I don’t know enough about their world, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong if that’s who you want to be,” Corgan says. “Pop, to me, is predicated on satisfying. I’ve said many times, pop is porn. It’s porn, they want to get you off. It’s just how they’re going to get you off. I’m not that concerned with getting you off. I’m just not. It’s just not in my DNA. I was never that guy.”
Joe Rogan likes Nickelback too: “I like their songs! I like some of their music,” Rogan says. “I know some if it is cliche subject matter and I don’t care. There’s a lot of great songs that have cliche subject matter.”
