After a string of great singles (“Roll The Dice,” “In Flight”), the third full-length album from New York’s Sunflower Bean is finally here.
Sunflower Bean’s latest record, Headful of Sugar—which is already getting some great reviews—was mixed by Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Jacob Portrait, and sees the band combining soft rock influences with dazzling synths and upbeat, psychedelia-drenched pop beats. Give it a listen below before the band’s Chicago show on May 20.
“We wanted to write about the lived experience of late capitalism, how it feels every day, the mundanity of not knowing where every construct is supposed to ultimately lead you,” says vocalist Nick Kivlen. “The message is in the title: this is about fast pleasures, the sugar of life, the joy that comes with letting go of everything you thought mattered.”
You can grab your tickets here for Sunflower Bean’s Bottom Lounge show on Friday, May 20.
