Who The Heck Are The Velveteers?

Who The Heck Are The Velveteers?

August 3, 2022 (December 7, 2022) // Riot Fest

Today’s installment of Who The Heck Are… is all about the Velveteers, a tried-and-true rock trio from Boulder, Colorado—and it comes just in time for the band’s Cobra Lounge gig this Thursday!

Known for their energetic sets and DIY presence, their debut record Nightmare Daydream came out last year and was produced by the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach after clips of the Velveteers’ live shows made it his way. Rightfully labeled as “primal” in sound, the band’s tight rhythm section backs up some powerful leads from vocalist/guitarist Demi Demitro. Essential tracks include “Charmer And The Snake,” “Motel #27,” and “Father of Lies.”

The Velveteers will play Chicago’s Cobra Lounge this Thursday, August 4 with support from Tall Doug (tickets are available here). We spoke to the band ahead of the show on their dream collaborators, their not-so-guilty pleasure bands, and more. Check it out below.
