Social media is the best procrastination tool ever created. Nothing kills time like stalking a profile, uploading pictures, updating statuses and even searching for a potential kidney match on the donor registry. Wait, what?
Just when you thought there was nothing left to take over and capitalize on, Facebook now takes part in a donor registry program. Friends can opt into the program and place on their profile their “organ donor status.” Ultimately the goal is to nudge fellow members to add their names to the registered donor list. Facebook can already deem this a success thanks to 21 yr old Hannah Craig who needed a new kidney. Using the registry, she and a family friend were connected and ultimately ended up being a perfect match for each other.
What in the world will Mark Zuckerberg think of next? Actually, nevermind. It’s probably a time machine. Can’t wait.
