Chicago has an impressive resume which is always making it a touristy hot spot. Known as the Windy City, Chicago offers beaches nestled against a captivating skyline. Deep dish pizza joints with lines out the door. And PS, it’s also the known as one of the deadliest cities in the world.
10 years ago, there were 800+ murders. Last year, although slashed in half, Chicago pulled in 440 murders in a single year. Curious about this year? Chicago is currently on pace to surpass last year’s murder count to about 570. While media outlets and police are deflecting these murders on violent gangs, Chicagoans are completely numb to new murder reports. The currently solution in place seems to be resting in Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s hands and his tough love strategy: “Take your stuff away to the alley. Don’t touch the children of the city of Chicago. Don’t get near them.”
