The nominee list for Time Magazine’s 2012 Person of the Year has been released, and it includes Pussy Riot. You can see the specific write up on Pussy Riot here and the entire list here. As of this writing they’re hovering at 39% “Definitely” level in the public voting. The online vote doesn’t play into the editor’s choice, but the people’s choice will be announced on December 14.
If you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, Pussy Riot is a Russian punk band whose members were arrested, tried and convicted for a protest action in a church. Once the trial ended the story began to take other twists, including two other members fleeing the country, one of the three convicted members being freed, the band’s name being found written in blood at a murder location and the release of a new single.
