In a new interview, Jeff Walker of Carcass announced the intention to release the band’s first new record in almost two decades. He spoke with Decibel about the record and released a few details. It’s being recorded with Colin Richardson and will see release next year on an as of yet unknown label. Walker says the tunes so far are a healthy mix of ideas from all five original LPs and also to expect some backing screams from guitarist Bill Steer for the first time since 1991’s Necroticism – Descanting the Insalubrious LP.
Carcass formed in 1987 and helped pioneer grindcore, goregrind and melodic death metal before breaking up in 1995; their final album Swansong was released the following year. They got back together in 2007 for some sporadic touring and as of right now only have one show scheduled as part of Maryland Death Fest 2013.
