Last night I dreamt that Smash Mouth loved me. In a recent Stereogum interview with Steve Harwell, lead singer of Smash Mouth, he says that Morrissey is a fan of the band. If you’re not familiar with the band Smash Mouth, they are best known for their hit song “All Star”, from the movie Shrek.
The interview covers a large range of topics, but perhaps the most surprising one is that, according to Harwell, Morrissey is a fan of Smash Mouth.
Smash Mouth shared the bill with Morrissey at Guadalajara’s Roxy Fest earlier this year and in this excerpt from the Stereogum interview, he talks about the brief, but cool meeting:
STEREOGUM: Did you get to meet Morrissey?
HARWELL: Yeah! It was brief. But super weird and cool. He was great.
STEREOGUM: Is he a fan?
HARWELL: Yeah, he was very complimentary toward us.
So there you have it. Morrissey is a Smash Mouth fan.
