Daily Riot Fest Roundup

October 11, 2017 (October 11, 2017) // Riot Fest

Tim Barry is a legend to us, and he’s playing at the Cobra Lounge on Thursday. Problem is, too many people don’t know about his first band, Avail, and we’ve set out to change that nonsense.

The Flatliners announced tour dates in celebration of the 10th anniversary of their LP The Great Awake, including a January 12th stop here in Chicago!

Third Man Records announced the cassette release of the first three White Stripes albums in honor of Cassette Store Day. Yes, Cassette Store Day is a thing, and it takes place this Saturday, October 14th. For a list of retailers that are in on the operation, click here. Third Man also announced recently a new vinyl set featuring some of the White Stripes’ early live performances, as previewed below.

The Fest just premiered the new Sincere Engineer video for all the Fest Friends at their website. See y’all in Florida! Then we’ll see y’all back here in Chicago for Sincere Engineer’s album release party at Township on November 10th.

The Lillingtons release Stella Sapiente on Fat Wreck Chords this Friday, the 13th! To add to the spookiness quotient, the band’s first new album in 11 years covers themes such as the Illuminati and other secret societies and conspiracy theories. Uproxx premiered the full-album stream today, but we’ll save you a trip…

GBH released a new song! Check out “Birmingham Smiles” from the band’s upcoming album, Momentum, due out November 17th via Hellcat Records.

Today is the 20th anniversary of the release of The Promise Ring‘s breakthrough album Nothing Feels Good, although I’m unsure what it broke through. The album still kicks ass, and Washed Up Emo agrees with us, as clearly apparent in this thoughtful essay over at Medium.

Good Land Records has a couple of cool new releases, and accompanying videos to boot. Both of these releases can be purchased at the Good Land Records store between now and this Saturday using discount code “FIGGS30” at checkout for 30% off your entire order.

The Obleeks (Chicago, IL): “Have You Thought About Me Lately??” from the LP The Obleeks, out now

BOTTOMFEEDERS (New Orleans, LA): “Crust Fund” from the LP BOTTOMFEEDERS, out now

If you enjoyed our Iron Chic interview this week, but you’re still wondering what their new album sounds like, here’s the perfect opportunity for you to remedy the issue. NPR just premiered a new song “Planes, Chest Pains, and Automobiles,” from You Can’t Stay Here, which comes out this Friday, thanks to the good folks at SideOneDummy Records.

Do whatever Jawbreaker says. You kinda owe them.

Hey New Yorkians, explore gender with art (and Laura Jane Grace) this Saturday.

It’s #NationalComingOutDay. We ❤️ you whether you’re out or not!

Speaking of which, come out to this on Saturday! 😎https://t.co/tDTyqtjb4v pic.twitter.com/1LHRJZgaaB
