Happy Monday. Statistically speaking, you have a better chance of having a heart attack today than any other day of the week.
The European Journal of Epidemiology, based on an analysis of several previous studies, found that the risk of a heart attack on Mondays was about 20 percent greater for men, and about 15 percent greater for women.
Most Monday heart attacks happen between 4am and 10am, as the realization sets in that the weekend is over and you have to drag your ass into a job that you probably hate so you can pay rent at an overpriced apartment you probably hate.
And yes, having a job you hate can literally kill you. It can cause weight gain, lower your immune system, ruin your relationships, and even increase your risk of heart attacks.
Another possibility? The British Medical Journal found that the increase in Monday heart attacks might be linked to all the heavy drinking, and God knows what else you did to your body, over the weekend.
What can you do to reduce your chances of having a heart attack on a Monday? Lots of things actually, but they all sound boring.
Don’t worry though, only 5 more days until the weekend, that is, if you don’t have a heart attack today. Good luck.
