Bandcamp’s wildly successful Bandcamp Fridays—where artists receive 100% of Bandcamp’s usual cut of revenue from sales on the platform—now extend to every first Friday of the month for the rest of the year.
The move comes after staggering results from the program’s launch on March 23, 2020: $4.3 million dollars was spent on music and merch in a single day, which amounted to fifteen times the amount of usual sales on a Friday. In May, that number jumped to $7.1 million dollars in a single day; June saw an outpouring of labels and artists donate their sales to organizations fighting for racial equality.
Long story short: It’s the best day of the month to support your favorite working artist, especially in the wake of COVID-19’s effect on the music industry. Head over to Bandcamp and treat yourself to a record or two.
