Every Issue of Punk Planet is Now Online For Free

The Chicago-based zine ran from 1994 until 2007
January 28, 2021 (January 28, 2021) // Riot Fest

The Internet Archive’s massive, growing collection of free content now includes all 80 issues of Punk Planet, the Chicago-based zine by writer and editor Dan Sinker. The magazine originally ran from 1994 until its end in 2007. Start browsing here.

Thanks to a request by Sinker (who has redirected the Punk Planet website straight to the Internet Archive’s collection), you can scroll through every issue in a single collection organized by release year. All 80 issues have been independently scanned in high-definition resolution, and are completely free to read.

Punk Planet’s focus highlighted punk subculture over merely the genre itself, with a print run of 16,000 copies. The magazine was noted for its often progressive features on feminism, workers’ rights, and media criticism, along with its many high-profile interviews—Ian McKaye, Sleater-Kinney, and Jawbreaker are just a few big ones. They’re a great piece of Chicago punk history, and definitely worth a read.
