For our second installment of Who The Heck series (a new visual Q&A series where we introduce you to our favorite up-and-coming acts), we talked to Los Angeles, California band Teenage Wrist.
Teenage Wrist’s current lineup is comprised of guitarist/frontman Marshall Gallagher and longtime drummer Anthony Salazar, along with two touring members: guitarist McCoy Kirgo and bassist Matt Cohen. Their sound is best described as shoegaze-tinged alternative rock—heard especially on the group’s 2021 sophomore record, Earth Is A Black Hole—with some emo and grunge influences thrown in. Essential tracks include the eponymous single “Earth Is A Black Hole” and “Mary,” a heavy cut from their 2019 EP Counting Flies.
Teenage Wrist will play Chicago’s Cobra Lounge this Wednesday, June 15 with support from Softcult and Soul Blind (tickets are still available). We spoke to Marshall and Anthony before the show on their dream collaborators, their favorite Riot Fest sets of all time, and more.
