On May 20th, Boxing Out Negativity, a local nonprofit organization, will host an exciting event called “Bike Out Negativity: A Celebration of Chicago’s Youth!” The event will take place at 3147 W Douglas Blvd (St. Agatha Church) and includes an Expo & Giveaway for West Side kids from 12 PM – 3 PM, followed by a fun bike ride at 3 PM. They need volunteers for Friday, May 19th and Saturday, May 20th.
Boxing Out Negativity was founded in 2009 by Derek Brown, a coach who wanted to provide youth with an alternative to street involvement. Through the boxing program, kids receive physical training, civic engagement, and team-building skills. The program is offered at no cost to participants or their families and prioritizes those who are at the highest risk for street involvement.
In addition to its boxing program, Boxing Out Negativity hosts various community anti-violence events throughout the year. Bike Out Negativity is their latest event and aims to celebrate Chicago’s youth while promoting a positive, safe environment for all.
Volunteer options include Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20. If you’re interested in lending a hand and making a difference in the lives of Chicago’s youth, please fill out the volunteer sign-up form.
Or, you can sign up to participate in the bike ride at the link below.
