Aerophobia is the fear of flying. So what do you call it when your pilot is suffering a severe migraine and is incapacitated… and therefore cannot fly the plane. “You’re all screwed.”
Flight LH403, en route from Newark to Frankfurt, had a slight detour when the pilot was stricken with a severe migraine that left him incapacitated. Thankfully, luck was on the side of the Lufthansa jumbo jet because there happened to be a fully qualified pilot on board the plane. After checking his background and credentials, the stranger turned out to be a pilot for North American Airlines and was quickly strapped into the cockpit. The flight was diverted from Frankfurt and into Dublin where the incapacitated pilot was taken to the hospital. An investigation is currently underway.
Way to not give people another reason to fear flying.
