Until very recently, the thought that getting cleared by security at a concert or music festival could one day be as difficult as boarding a plane in post-9/11 America sounded completely absurd. Now, it seems it is becoming a reality.
This week, Live Nation announced a new partnership with IdentoGo, the same security service used by the TSA to pre-screen passengers for faster check ins. Predicting that new security measures will create longer wait-times for security screenings at their events, they are also introducing a pre-screening program called Fast Pass.
For a fee, concertgoers will be able to sign up for a Fast Pass, which will grant them a personalized code that, presented to concert security along with a photo ID, will allow them to skip the line. One sign up is good for both TSA Pre-Check and Fast Pass and will be valid for five years.
