Today is National PTSD Day, but thankfully it’s also National Sunglasses Day, so if you’re not feeling the world around you, feel free to hide behind your glasses.

Quicksand just announced a grip of tour dates, lasting most of September and beyond. The tour stops here in Chicago at Thalia Hall on September 27th, co-sponsored by Riot Fest (full disclosure). Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10AM CDT at this here link, and they’ll probably go fast since Quicksand hasn’t toured in a while. Now take a minute to watch the “Fazer” video and remember how much you like this band.
The Hold Steady had such a blast playing four nights in Brooklyn last November in honor of the 10th anniversary of Boys & Girls In America, that they’ve decided to do it all again. Same bat-timeframe (November 29th through December 2nd), same bat-venue (Brooklyn Bowl), and we’d wager on different set lists. This time, the run of shows is dubbed Massive Nights, and there will once again be surprise openening acts each night. Last year’s openers included Titus Andronicus and The So So Glos, so you know these guys continue to never fuck around.
Speaking of never fucking around, two of The Hold Steady’s biggest fans got engaged during one of their recent shows in Chicago, and it looks like this boy and girl in America will have such a happy time together. Zing.

On September 22nd, Rise Records will release Cities In Search of a Heart, the first album in 14 years from Long Island’s The Movielife. This is not news, but this new track, “Mercy Is Asleep at the Wheel,” is! Enjoy it, we are!
