If you plan on seeing Jack White this year, don’t plan on taking photos or live-tweeting the whole thing like a dingus. Jack White is on to you, and his concerts will all be phone-free zones.
Banning the use of annoying cell phones during concerts has thankfully become a more common practice, especially among comedians who don’t want their material leaked. Dave Chappelle and Kevin Hart have put the practice into place at their shows, and Alicia Keys, Cage the Elephant, the Lumineers and others have recently implemented the policy as well.
Don’t worry, nobody is taking away your precious little pocket computer. You can still send off that hilarious tweet, or ‘Gram some nachos, or check Grindr… you’ll just need to step outside. But while you’re inside, you won’t be able to capture the performance in a way that allows for future enjoyment with far shittier sound quality on your tiny little cracked screen, because your device will be tucked away in one of these fancy little Yondr pouches:
And yes, you’ll survive a whole 90 minutes without a telephone; you do it when you go to see a movie, you do it when you visit your grandmother (you do, don’t you?), you’ve done it every time you’ve appeared before a judge, so you can do it a concert.
PLEASE NOTE: this is a PHONE-FREE show. No photos, video or audio recording devices allowed. We think you’ll enjoy looking up from your gadgets for a little while and experience music and our shared love of it IN PERSON. Upon arrival at the venue, all phones and other photo or video-capturing gizmos will be secured in a Yondr pouch that will be unlocked at the end of the show. You keep your pouch-secured phone on you during the show and, if needed, can unlock your phone at any time in a designated Yondr Phone Zone located in the lobby or concourse. For those looking to do some social media postings, let us help you with that. Our official tour photographer will be posting photos and videos after the show at jackwhiteiii.com and the new Jack White Live Instagram account @officialjackwhitelive. Repost our photos & videos as much as you want and enjoy a phone-free, 100% human experience.
