If you’ve been dreaming of possessing the ability to write like Kurt Cobain, David Bowie, John Lennon, Serge Gainsbourg, or Leonard Cohen, you can wake up now. Your dreams have been answered… sort of.
Using original handwritten letters and notes, designers Nicolas Damiens and Julien Sens have made downloadable fonts using the handwriting of these legendary musicians. “The Songwriters fonts have been created to give musicians inspiration,” according to the font’s website. “Writing lyrics with the handwriting of influential songwriters helps imagination to develop. Being in the mood of Bowie, Cobain, Cohen, Gainsbourg, Lennon, might be purely imaginative… but that’s precisely the point.”
So now you can “write” like some of your favorite musicians. I mean, you can scribe similarly. While you won’t be writing Nevermind II anytime soon, at least you’ll be able to type words on into computer and use what their letters looked like to make your words look like theirs, or something like that. Whatever, you know what we mean.
