The 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees have been revealed. This years finalists are Def Leppard, Devo, Janet Jackson, John Prine, Kraftwerk, LL Cool J, MC5, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Roxy Music, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Stevie Nicks, The Cure, The Zombies, and Todd Rundgren.
We can’t wait to hear all the whining on the internet about what your personal definition of rock and roll is and how being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers, KISS, and Journey is so important and meaningful.
The first time nominees include Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks, Todd Rundgren, Roxy Music, John Prine, and Devo.
Inductees will be announced in December 2018. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2019 Induction Ceremony will be in New York on March 29, 2019.
Artists become eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first record. Besides demonstrating unquestionable musical excellence and talent, inductees will have had a significant impact on the development, evolution and preservation of rock & roll.
Inductees are decided by an international body of more than 1,000 voting members, but fans can also vote (once a day) for their favorites. Fan voting continues through December 9th when the top 5 artists the public votes for will be tallied along with the other ballots. Fans can also vote in-person at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, but then you’d actually have to go to Cleveland.
If voting is your thing, you can do it here.
The 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class included Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, and Nina Simone.
