We like to think that people attend music festivals for the “music” part, mostly. But perhaps you’d rather hook up with someone you’re probably never going to see again. Introducing: Tinder Festival Mode!
Yes, Tinder is launching a brand new service that lets you match with people attending music festivals before you even get there. They’ve partnered with Live Nation and AEG Worldwide to bring Festival Mode to a variety of festivals this year, such as Firefly, Bonnaroo, and Governors’s Ball. The program launches today, ahead of its first test run at EDC Las Vegas later this month.
It works similar to planning a cruise ship itinerary, except with dating. You’ll add a badge to your profile advertising your presence at whatever festival you’re at, and then be able to match with fellow festival goers ahead of time. From there, you can plan a meet up at the nearest corn dog stand, porta potty, or wherever else you deem more intimate than an actual date.
Tinder describes the experience as “so grammable you just may want to keep it all to yourself,”—whatever that means—but teases that some extra bonuses like VIP upgrades and swag might be in the cards for potential lovebirds. You can read the full details of the new program here.
While Tinder Festival Mode won’t be featured at this year’s Riot Fest, we still advise that the utmost amount of consent be present in any festival flings.
