I have a confession to make: I am likely the most irresponsible Halloween DJ in existence. Somehow I’m put in charge of the tunes every year for whatever my ghoulish friends and I are up to on October 31, and every year I betray my friends and abuse these responsibilities by playing “Monster Mash”—including the oh-god-my-ears-they’re-bleeding rendition sang by Goofy—no less than seven times consecutively. It is annually met with groans, plugged ears, and “Why do I talk to you”s.
So this year, I set out with kinder intentions: a Halloween playlist comprised of tracks that give goosebumps, send shivers, and genuinely sound scary. Or, at the least, songs that carry a whisper of eeriness with them. Fellow RiotFest.org scaremonger Miles Raymer and I collaborated to bring you a playlist full of scary sounds for your Hallow’s Eve festivities. Enjoy—and save some candy for tomorrow.
