Rebecca Black Just Dropped a Crazy 10th Annivesary Remix of ‘Friday’ with Big Freedia

Rebecca Black Just Dropped a Crazy 10th Annivesary Remix of ‘Friday’ with Big Freedia

The release—which also features Dorian Electra and 30H!3—celebrates the 10-year mark since the song’s release
February 10, 2021 (February 10, 2021) // Riot Fest

According to the calendar it may be a Wednesday, but today is Friday in our hearts, as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Rebecca Black’s “Friday,” the first song to truly break the Internet. While the track’s viral popularity had a lot (okay, everything) to do with an ironic-to-trollish reaction to its canned cheesiness and Black’s enthusiastically sincere attempts at playing pop star, it’s also what the kids call a motherfucking bop.

To her credit, Black has flipped the legacy of “Friday” into an interesting second act, reemerging recently to collaborate with hyperpop trickster Dorian Electra and claim her throne as an icon of the post-ironic Internet culture she helped create. To celebrate “Friday”’s birthday, she’s teamed up with Electra, emo-pop trailblazers 3OH!3, and New Orleans bounce diva Big Freedia for a tweaked-out remix that will keep you, in the immortal words of whoever wrote the lyrics, “Partyin’, partyin’ / Fun, fun, fun, fun.”
