The Bollweevils are back (although they never really left if you knew where to look), and they’re ready to remind you why they’re one of your favorite band’s favorite bands, with their first full-length album in nearly three decades. Essential, set to drop on May 5th via Red Scare Industries, marks the triumphant return of these Chicago punk legends who’ve been high kicking their way into our cold black hearts since before Riot Fest was even a twinkle in our eye.
After Daryl (the nicest human we’ve ever met stopped to finish medical school, become a doctor, and save the world), The Bollweevils reunited in 2006 for the second Riot Fest, and have continued to perform at various festivals and gigs, including other Riot Fests. For those who are unfamiliar with their music, but love the catchy, driving force of ’90s punk, The Bollweevils’ classic records have stood the test of time and are well worth exploring. Their new material, such as the Attack Scene 7″ and their 2021 single “Liniment and Tonic,” showcases the band’s unwavering ability to pick up right where they left off.
As you prepare to delve into the exclusive album stream of Essential, get ready for an adrenaline-infused journey through the very essence of punk rock. The Bollweevils have made a triumphant return, proving once again that their music will always be our favorite.
