Beloved Hüsker Dü drummer, vocalist, and songwriter Grant Hart passed away last September, and now some asshole on eBay is trying to sell the cake from his private memorial service.
We’re not going to link it here—because fuck that—but if you’re resourceful and sick enough, you can probably find it. Yes, we know by posting about we’re giving it publicity, but it’s just so disgusting.
The eBay cake is described (verbatim, typos and all) as a “dried and partially eaten chocolate and vanilla marbled cake from the private memorial for the late Grant Hart, Drummer of the seminal punk rock band Hüsker Dü.The cake is in it’s original box with the usual wear and tear. The cake is dried, and will last indefinitely, as long as it is stored in a cool dry place.The icing is still vibrant in color, with a small amount of color bleed -normal for a preserved cake. It has been stored away from sunlight, in a dry container. This is an extremely interesting one-of-a-kind preserved cake for avid fans and rock n’ roll memorabilia collectors.”
The auction is over later today, and there’s been only one bid so far. We can only hope that the winner will keep this cake out of the wrong hands and get rid of it properly… because whoever had that job last time around was derelict in their duty.
