Adoption events come, and adoption events go. Camp CACC, Homecoming, and soon to be Howloween, and Barnacle is still waiting, no family for him yet.
Barnacle has really blossomed into his best self during his time at the shelter. He’s been loved and doted on by the volunteers here; it’s no surprise he is easily one of our favorites. So why is he still here (and nearing 90 days at the shelter!)? Well, Barnacle isn’t about that cage life and makes a bit of a ruckus in his cage which may turn off adopters. But as you can see from his videos, he’s as cool as a cucumber once outside. Barnacle loves to be loved and enjoys cuddles and pets!
At this time, we think Barnacle will be best suited as your one and only dog. He’s been ok being walked near dogs, but hasn’t had a great experience with contact or off leash. Perhaps it’s something that can be worked on with a very experienced person, but it’s possible he may never want to be a doggie pal to another dog.
Barnacle also has been seen doing some resource guarding with his food and water. This may be attributed to cage life but is something to take note of once he’s in a home. Resource guarding is very trainable and workable as long as someone is willing to never give up on our bud and teach him how to be the best boy he can be.
