Teenage Bottlerocket is back where they belong – releasing rad new music and playing it live all over the world. July 14th sees the release of their new album, Stealing The Covers, via Fat Wreck Chords, where the band has returned after a short stint over at Rise Records.
The album is all cover songs, which generally means it should suck. But this album does not suck at all, partially because Teenage Bottlerocket are awesome, but also because they covered songs from rad bands they loved and admired coming up in the Wyoming punk scene…and beyond. The rule was that no band could be covered if they sold more than 1,000 records in their career.
The first song revealed from Stealing The Covers is “RoboCop is a Half-Breed Sellout” by Sprocket Nova TBR’s hometown of Laramie, WY. According to AltPress, Sproket Nova apparently used to play shows in shitty robot costumes, so we love them already. Oh, and this song is totally rad and we can’t wait to hear the rest.
Stealing The Covers is Bottlerocket’s first album since the untimely and very sad passing of very rad drummer Brandon “Bran-Bran” Carlisle. The throne has since been permanently filled by Darren Chewka, who is also rad at playing drums.
TBR is on the road, so be sure to catch them if you’re in in the neighborhood. They’re rad live.
